Yes, but with the introduction to these new green items, gold items become obsolete. They will be simply no use/demand for them. ANet needs to do something with these green items. Maybe only restrict them to PvP or something... I don't know. They just can't be in PvE.

And your point is? You can't try ripping people off for those gold items anymore, because they can now go and get there own with a little effort? I little Presumptuous on my part - but that's the vibe I'm getting.

Weapons are (or hopefully - were) pretty much the only thing left in the game that make the trading system rather sleazy. If it means no more WTS: yada yada yada 200k, then in my opinion that's just dandy.

The whole "godly/uber" (can we please stop using this term, already?) weapons/item issue was moot since day 1. Why? Cause I can make a PvP character with a max damage weapon that has max mods (inherent or unlocked), and have the exact mods that I want on said weapon to boot.

Having top-rated gear is really important in PvP since you are in a competetive environment(which is why PvP characters have access to such gear, making gold/green items pointless), while the PvE in this game tends to cater more to the causal side, so you can easily deal with high end encounters with high end armor (thats 1.5k draknors, none of this FoW silliness) and collectors weapons/shield/focii.

All this gold/green weapon silliness is kinda of dumb, but then again I'm a PvPer and not exactly a fan of an internet version of "dress-up". PvE should be about the quests and the challenges in this game . If you want to play a MMORPG that is centered more on gear, play one of the other MMORPGs (Everquest 1 or 2/ FFXI / Lineage 1 or 2/ etc). Have fun grinding to catch up by the way, the high end players in those games are several YEARS ahead of you, rather than the few weeks (at most) in this game.

I have to agree that Anet made a huge mistake with this patch. The idea that this is now a Communist Welfare state is exactly correct. People who haven't EARNED the right to a uber-item now get them for free.

I loved going out into different areas of Tyria and farming for a perfect item. I'm not a power farmer. I've farmed with henchies and with friends.

I've found exactly one item worth 80k (a 10/10 sundering axe haft) and sold several items in the 10-30k range. I wasn't ripping anyone off. Anyone here will tell you that there wasn't any significant difference between that +25 health staff wrapping and the +30 health wrapping, but people still paid 30k for it. They weren't being ripped off. They knew what they were buying....a perfect item. They had to work, just as I did to get the money in the first place to buy it.

I spent months farming and build a cash reserve. I always have between 30-90k on hand so that I can buy that perfect item for MY character when it comes along. I don't NEED the item, I WANT it.

That exactly why I played the game. It was FUN to farm for items in the hope of finding one, and at the same time make money so I could BUY it if it wasn't found.

What is there to do in PvE now? I have already done all the missions, all but four of the bonuses, all the quests. I have every Elite spell for both my Primary and Secondary. What is there to do? I don't want to play PvP, at least I don't want to be forced to play PvP. Not like this.

Please explain to me how the traders were hurting ANYTHING? As EVERYONE here has said, YOU DON'T NEED UBER ITEMS TO PLAY, so what did the traders matter? You could play with the Collectors items and even normal items you find. What were the traders hurting??? No one was being FORCED to buy that +15>50 sword to complete the game!!!

I WORKED HARD to get this money and items, and now they are worthless and common. And to top it off, now I am called "Eliteist" because I don't support the Welfare Economy thats been introduced.

Why didn't Anet just GIVE the green items to people. Just let the Green and perfect Gold items appear in your inventory. Heck spawn you characters wih that perfect gold stormbow!!! Then it TRUELY wouldn't be about the grind!!!

I really see this as a major blow for GW. What was gained? Seriously! What was gained? Now "Tommy Script Kiddie" can start a new character, get run completely through the game, get free uber items and be l33t. Seriously, the enitre long-term value of PvE has been destroyed.

I tell you what. It's not fair that I have to GRIND in PvP!!! All american players should get faction when American teams win HOH!!! Why should they get faction, when PvE'rs don't??? Are they BETTER THAN US? Elitist!!!! PvE'rs DEMAND FACTION!!!

Also, I want my PvE character to start off at level 20, with full attributes!!! Why should PvP-only characters get that? THEY ARE FORCING ME TO GRIND.. WAAAA-WAAAA!

Why should PvE players have to Ascend? or Get Infused?? Elitists!!! I want to start already Ascended and Infused, with Fissure Armor. It's not fair that I dont get Fissure Armor.

Disappointed by the Trading changes in the patch.

OK, ripping off is a bit strong - it's not real money - it's not real life.

Still sleazy though.

How exactly does someone 'earn' the right to a decent weapon? You don't just get given green weapons, you have to earn them by completing quests, and killing bosses. Aren't these weapons only available in SF? Some may say that reaching SF is proof enough of the effort you have put in.

Not to forget that "earning" or "working hard" for a rare item sounds absolutely stupid since drops are completely random and luck. I helped a low-level to the Copperhammer Mines 2 days ago and a perfect summit axe (except for the grip) dropped for him while he himself wielded some 6-16 Krytan. How the hell did he earn it and how the hell should he not have had this drop?

I started to get real good gold amounts when finding 2 +30 sword pommels in a day. How did I work hard for it than just standing yelling WTS +30 pommels?

btw.: It amazes me when people ask themselves what is left to do at PVE. Just quit the game and do something else?

Carinae, you and the other ranting farmers blow my mind. Collectively, you act like you have some noble work ethic. You talk about how you have "worked hard" and how you have "earned" certain things or how others have not "earned" them. You have a "cash reserve"? For what? In case another Searing hits your farm in Ashford and you have to live in the Kryta Astrodome for a few months? What sort of world do you live in?

Guild Wars is a game. It's a big bunch of nothing. It's a fun big bunch of nothing, and it's great entertainment, but it's nothing more than that. Were you planning on putting a screen shot of your toon on your tombstone? Wake up. You lost nothing. You had nothing to lose, except an illusion. Do you get this upset when you wake up from a good dream?

You lost nothing. You earned nothing. You could just as well have sat in the same chair for the same 500 hours (or whatever you've spent) with no computer and you would have the same thing you had before the update: nothing. You could spend twice as much time and still have the same thing: nothing. Tomorrow, I am going to go help feed a few thousand people that truly lost everything they had, and you're ranting on because a bunch of toons aren't going to be in awe of your freakin' "uber" weapon. I ask again: what sort of world do you live in?

Wake up. It's a game. I know I'm shouting at the wind, but sometimes the wind seems to listen. If you want a sense of accomplishment, take your work ethic and go do something real. Work half has hard on something real as you think you've worked on this game, and you can see what true accomplishment is. In the meantime, if you want to have some fun, party up with me and we'll go kill some bad guys.

Being this is my first MMORG game I have ever played (I was late in the gaming world)here is my 2 cents worth. (sorry if I have repeated anything)

I have completed the game 3 times with my characters and in general thought most of the pve was a grind in the same way solo farming is a grind. Of which I enjoyed both good time-out from real world. I can see that the mission do lack dimensions. (By the way I have no other point of reference).

I do feel A-net had tried to take the middle ground initally which they have now stepped over with these green weapons. If they so desire people who play pve and pvp then they should allow people to build pvp with access to everything from skills to weapons etc and allow pve to be more seperate. (I do believe this was voiced before). Thus allowing the farmers to focus on there objectives. I have no problems people trying to sell godly weapons to people for 100plat or more since I find it amusing aswell as a chore to stand around and do that personally. It what makes an economy. People do not have to buy then and as rightly said collector weapons are just as good.

By creating these green weapons people who complete the game who do not move on to pvp will slowly lose interest and I am talking about the casual gamer they are so-trying to keep.

There back to work.

Why is sleazy? It's sleazy to ask me to sell things below market prices.

Green items have no resale value. People 'earn' them in SF, true. But look at all the threads about people never selling Greens for more than 2k, or the actual threads in the Selling forum where Greens get offers of 1g or 2g.

If a PERFECT item like a green is being sold for so little, then yes, they are being given away! And that destroys the market for Gold/Purples/Blues along with it.

I'M THE LOSER, EH? What the heck are you doing here? Posting in an internet forum, when you could be saving innocent swans, or feeding the children of New Orleans??

Its just the internet! Loser! Get a life, do something useful instead of gripe about how other people spend their free-time. You're not my Boss, nor my Mom. Idiot.

How Dare You Judge Me, You Holier Than Thou Moron!

What gives you the right to tell ME what I should do and what is a 'worthwhile' endeavor?????

By that line of thinking, lets eliminate all PvP faction and Rank/Fame!!!! It's just a game, they shoudn't get upset about it!

1. Farmers go thru the game, get the equipment and skills they need and start farming X area over and over again, usually a high end area.

2. Regular "non-farmer" Plays thru the game. Gets whatever item falls for him. And then start a new one and repeat.

Only difference here is "non-farmers" may take the game a little bit farther than "some" farmers. Both types repeat the same areas over and over again. One does it with the same character. The other does it with different ones.

I've made 7 characters so far for PvE and I coulndt take it with my last 2. You are doing the same stuff over and over again, so what is the difference? Farmers have earn the right to get this items the same way you have. Only thing is that they stick to an area longer than you. You go thru all the areas in the game more than them. In a way "non-farmers" farm more than regular farmers.

And no I'm not a "Full-Time" farmer and I dont think the update ruin it for farmers neither. To me the discussion is rather pointless since there will ALWAYS be a way to farm one area or another and there will always be farmers. That is what pushes the economy in this game and therefore they are essential to it.

"Earned"
"Worked Hard"

Ya know what. I have a job. I work hard at my job. I earn a paycheck that pays for a house for myself, my wife, and 2 kids. I earn a paycheck that puts food on the table, and allows me some luxuries among which include an internet connection and maybe a game roughly every 3 months or so.

I got news for some of you. There IS NO 'hard work' in a video game. There is no "earning". And where some of you come off telling my what I've "earned" the "right" to use in a GAME is beyond me. IT'S A GAME. GAMES ARE MEANT TO BE FUN, not work.

Yes, I am a casual gamer, though my wife thinks differently. I can spend an hour, maybe two, maybe 5 times a week. More like 3 nights on average.

I get farming.

I get item collecting.

I've done soloing myself. I understand the joy and fun.

What I'm not getting is what the complaint is. Those gold items are still out there to be found. Soloing is still waiting to be done.

"The economy is ruined". How? We are talking about the joy of collecting the items here, right?

Yes, gold items might drop more often. How many of them are perfect?

Yes, green items are pretty good. From what I've seen they are still not perfect.

Lowering the bar for everyone means there is no excellence to strive for, and as such, this patch is a failure of grand proportions.

lol

what a joke, communism???

'earning' items, 'working' for items... wtf is this a job description??

its a game.. and as advertised heaps of times - its a game aimed at hardcore AND casual gamers. more to the point - its aimed to avert the requirement for hours and hours of grind to be competitive.

im sorry to break this to you, but a game is all about having fun. if you think other people should have to 'work' or 'earn' or 'pay their dues' to be on even ground with you then you have a disturbing case of 'inflated ego'.

there are 750 skills i think in this game, and a bunch of different armors, weapons, offhands, shields etc. and an array of dyes which can be combined in many different ways. not to mention a fairly diverse choice for colouring and facial features.

and you claim you cant make a unique character???

well im sorry you chose to make a W/Mo when the game first came out, and im sorry you then made a Mo/W when you read about farming on the forums, im sorry you copied all the skills that were posted on the forums for those cookie cutter builds.

im sorry you lack the creativity to diversify your character outside of the realm of 'i have maxxed items' concept.

fact is, no matter what you say, even with a 0.0000001% chance drop on max mods, eventually everyone will have the same stuff - so uniqueness doesnt even factor into the equation anyway - it just comes back to the whole ego thing...

That might be true for you, but for others the storyline, characters, and exploring are what PvE is meant for.

Well, I don't much care about swans, but I will be feeding some children from New Orleans tomorrow, along with their parents and a lot of other people from that and other areas. What are you going to do tomorrow?

How dare I judge you? I actually found it rather easy. After your response, I feel pretty confident about my assessment.

As for what gives me the right to tell you what I think you should do and what is worthwhile, that's the Constitution of the United States of America. It's not the most exciting read, but you may want to check it out sometime. It's the same thing that gives you the right to go off like you have. You have the right to speak your mind without the government coming down on you. You do not, however, have the right to be liked or respected for what you said or to avoid challenges or criticsm on your position. Learn to deal with it, and you might "earn" back some of the respect you lost from your fit.

Let's not get ignorant people.
It's not a matter of having no regard for others, it's a matter of personal preference and playing style. Different people enjoy different things. I would hate to have to play in an homogenized environment that breeds sheep.

[QUOTE=Carinae Dragonblood]I'M THE LOSER, EH? What the heck are you doing here? Posting in an internet forum, when you could be saving innocent swans, or feeding the children of New Orleans??

actually he is taking a short break before doing just that..........loser (the government printed some extra items and your uber stash got devalued some boo-hhooooo)

wait a bit to see what the result is before you whine so much.

IDEA

PUT AN HOURS PLAYED REQUIREMENT ON ITEMS

that way the lower class player who hasnt put in the required amount of time cant use it........better yet.....if they dare to try to use an item above their station in life it kills them
